.smoother scroll wheel

April 11, 2008

decided to make the scrollwheel on my Logitech trackman (thumb trackball mouse) run smoother. i remember breaking something on my older trackman (accidentally) that made it scroll a lot faster, but now i can’t recall which part. for this newer one i ended up just removing the spring that lets you know the actual scrollwheel is “tracking”:

.how to be a designer without losing your soul

March 31, 2008

may as well do some reading (actual reading since this isnt a showcase/gallery design book):
How To Be A Graphic Designer Without Losing Your Soul by Adrian Shaughnessy

it also just happens to have a section with John Warwicker of tomato whose work has been one of my major influences.

.finished designing an invite

i had to hand dot each one with a gold marker:

this is printed off of an inkjet printer. the only problem while printing is that the paper was not opaque enough for the printer to recognize so it kept spitting it out. i ended up taping two together, then ran another run of prints on the other side. i scrapped the idea of printing on the backs since it was too tedious to retape all over again.

.opened up a flickr account + site update

March 6, 2008

lomo pic

just thought i’d go ahead and make a dedicated photo section on my website mostly for lomo pics. my lomohome probably still exists but i never uploaded any pics there (nor do i remember what my password/login was). that and it’ll take me forever to make a custom slideshow in flash. speaking of….

website menu update

i will eventually revamp the whole site, so the clusterfudge that was art / photo / design (and all the other sub sections) would be simplified/consolidated in some form or another. that might not happen for another year. the new flickr link in the menu is only one set of images. the rest is a bit of disorganized mess HERE

minor gripe about one hour photo labs, i know these just look like blobs and don’t really resemble anything. and you might’ve thought they were screwups when i was taking the pictures, but i shot these things that way on purpose and didnt receive a print of them with my order.

Andreas Müller, For All Seasons

For All Seasons
by Andreas Müller.
wish more of his work is mac-accessible..

saw the next few from WOOSTER.

On The Road of Knives by Zak Smith, Shawn Cheng and Nicholas Di Genova.

So this is how it works: Zak draws something. Shawn draws something that will fight it. Zak draws his thing fighting back. Shawn draws his thing fighting back and maybe tripping over a statue. Then maybe Zak’s thing kills Shawn’s with the statue’s head. Then Shawn draws a new thing. Zak’s surviving thing attacks it. And so on. Zak and Shawn got things started, and now Nick has joined the fray. Though not exactly an exquisite corpse, it will be exquisite, and there will be many corpses.
