.flash animation test, part 1

after working for hours on it yesterday, i realized that most of the little animated movements that i labored over wasn’t going to be visible long enough for people to even notice (or may not even see after i add some color to it). also realized that while there is animation, the end piece won’t actually be moving all that much. animation that won’t actually move?

since it’s work in progress, i’ll hold off on making a permalink. i’ll just log the progress IN THIS LINKYDINK HERE. you can see the illustrator (non animated) version of the piece followed by the flash (animated) version. not really feeling the eyeball animation all that much, so a new eyeball animation would be my next priority.

.very minor splash page update

just added a little note (might be too little for people to actually read or even notice) at the top left corner of my splash page. probably a long ways before i actually make a version 2. hope to have some ideas by this summer.

.opened up a flickr account + site update

just thought i’d go ahead and make a dedicated photo section on my website mostly for lomo pics. my lomohome probably still exists but i never uploaded any pics there (nor do i remember what my password/login was). that and it’ll take me forever to make a custom slideshow in flash. speaking of….

i will eventually revamp the whole site, so the clusterfudge that was art / photo / design (and all the other sub sections) would be simplified/consolidated in some form or another. that might not happen for another year. the new flickr link in the menu is only one set of images. the rest is a bit of disorganized mess HERE

minor gripe about one hour photo labs, i know these just look like blobs and don’t really resemble anything. and you might’ve thought they were screwups when i was taking the pictures, but i shot these things that way on purpose and didnt receive a print of them with my order.

.portfolio overhaul

not to be confused with the subsection link on the right hand side of this blog, this is the more professional looking version (for both online and in person). also added a more streamlined portfolio section (for prospective employers/clients only). i will still keep the current convoluted version of the site/blog (for now).

aluminum portfolio case and sample work on one sheet:

the plain aluminum portfolio case was too plain so i decided to spruce it up a bit:

the sample sheet is also available in pdf format. trying to cover 2 bases at once.

the cleaner portfolio site which most people won’t see. first 2 screenshots is how the site would look if the viewer had maxed out their screen resolution. the last 2 screenshots is how it would look for the opposite end of the spectrum. the main difference is the bar at the bottom of the page (only shows up when screen resolution is maxed since it’s on a fixed size background image)

rather minimalist overall style which is the opposite of most of my earlier work.

.preliminary sketches for web layout

this will tie-in with the resume section (and printed resume). i’m in the process of wittling down my portfolio into just a one-sheet/page format for easy distribution and review, while having it match the overall feel/look of the web section and resume. might also do a self-promo piece once i get this project out of the way. the promo piece would most likely be more graphic intensive compared to the minimalist look of the resume/prowebfolio.

.splash page updated

minor update to splash page (highlighted in red above). edited the text that pops up when you rollover either “portfolio” or “blog”. i didnt feel it was as descriptive as it should be.
