so i decided to upgrade my phone (even though i hardly ever actually use it) and chose the lg env2, only because the buttons weren’t as dinky as any of the other ones i was looking at (and if you’re on verizon the choices are kinda limited). the maroon color looks way better in person than when you’re looking at it online if anybody’s wondering.

it’s actually just a tad thicker and heavier than the razr. i doubt i’ll be a texting demon with this, but the notepad app and inner qwerty pad would come in real handy. feels awkward/uncomfortable using it when it’s open since your finger would actually be smudging the camera lens on the backside in relation to where the main directional pad (which your thumb will use often) is located. maybe i just need to get used to it.
haven’t messed around with any of the multimedia features yet (need to see what music/ringtones i can put on it). my old phone was actually set on vibrate most of the time. the only ringtone/song i ever used on it was “Bastards of Young” by The Replacements…which ended up being rather obnoxious (imagine “We are the sons of no one, bastards of young” blaring out of a crappy cellphone speaker…just that line of the song on loop). lousy as a ringtone, but still a great song:

have to redo most of the “robot” art since the gradients/stroke on the illustrator art did not transfer properly when i pasted it into my flash document. —*edit=you have to change your illustrator color mode to RGB, even if you were applying RGB colors to your illustrator artwork*.— rough cut of the animation (along with the eye animation) is now on a second progress page (haven’t added a preloader to the file, sorry) or download the swf file HERE. it’s a little bloated right now at 340 kb and i haven’t even gotten to the “arms” part yet….

this was the first Miike film i ever saw, and i mostly got it because i liked the packaging (designed by Natasha Chialtas). the ones that you can find in stores nowadays has the standard dvd case, and a not so appealing cover.
Uploaded a rough cut of the face animation onto the progress page. needs a lot of work on the illustration end. decided to forego making the illustration on paper (and not have to do any scanning) and just worked directly in Illustrator…which is taking longer than i would like.
still need to make the top portion of the head and art for the neck animation, but this is what i’ve gotten done so far:

still working out the kinks on the outer “armor” that would go on top of the “face”. had some trouble getting colors to work when i was animating the face sequence (not uploaded). i probably have just enough stuff done for the actual flash class assignment. just trying to get as much of the detailing done to build on later (i’d like to eventually get to the point where you could see the whole body hopefully…may take awhile since i’ve only finished the eyeball part).
