– dug up an old flash animation (originally with After Effects) I made back in 2003. the entire animation is made up of just these frames: click on above image to view the flash file. . the actual original After Effects version is slightly different, mostly the text effects (uploaded it to youtube, but the first 4 seconds got messed up). see below:
– or, as much as i could with flash crashing on me constantly (possibly due to a slight overabundance of illustrator gradients). now i need to learn how to make this in a much more efficient manner. click image above to view final animation.
i tried my best to do the whole thing in illustrator/flash without relying on physically sketching out the details on paper. i might just use a more sketched look for the rest of the animation from this point on (which would be the arms then body animation). click on image above to see the animation (up to the chest/shoulders portion)
have to redo most of the “robot” art since the gradients/stroke on the illustrator art did not transfer properly when i pasted it into my flash document. —*edit=you have to change your illustrator color mode to RGB, even if you were applying RGB colors to your illustrator artwork*.— rough cut of the animation (along with the eye animation) is now on a second progress page (haven’t added a preloader to the file, sorry) or download the swf file HERE. it’s […]
– Uploaded a rough cut of the face animation onto the progress page. needs a lot of work on the illustration end. decided to forego making the illustration on paper (and not have to do any scanning) and just worked directly in Illustrator…which is taking longer than i would like. still need to make the top portion of the head and art for the neck animation, but this is what i’ve gotten done so far: and me just messing around […]
still working out the kinks on the outer “armor” that would go on top of the “face”. had some trouble getting colors to work when i was animating the face sequence (not uploaded). i probably have just enough stuff done for the actual flash class assignment. just trying to get as much of the detailing done to build on later (i’d like to eventually get to the point where you could see the whole body hopefully…may take awhile since i’ve […]
updated the progress page with actual opening sequence animation (including new eyeball animation) all the way at the bottom of the link. haven’t done any finished illustrations of the rest of the remaining pieces, so even i don’t know how the finished piece will turn out yet….
– after working for hours on it yesterday, i realized that most of the little animated movements that i labored over wasn’t going to be visible long enough for people to even notice (or may not even see after i add some color to it). also realized that while there is animation, the end piece won’t actually be moving all that much. animation that won’t actually move? since it’s work in progress, i’ll hold off on making a permalink. i’ll […]
